Yan Pei-Ming 严培明 was born in Shanghai, China. |

1976 |
He worked as a propaganda painter. |
|||||||||
|
1980 |
He arrived in France on August 26th. |
|||||||||
|
1981 |
He entered the ENSA, in Dijon. |
|||||||||
|
1986 |
After graduating he began his first series of portraits : Heads of Mao. |
|||||||||
|
1988 |
He joined the Institute for Advanced Studies in Fine Arts in Paris. |
|||||||||
|
1993 |
He was artist in residency at the Medicis Villa, French Academy in Roma.. |
|||||||||
|
Under the title The 108 Robbers, inspired by the traditional Chinese novel, |
||||||||||
|
he made then 120 portraits of characters. |
||||||||||
|
1995 |
He was appointed professor at the ENSA, Dijon. | |||||||||
|
2003 |
His participation in the Biennial event of Venice was very noticed.. |
|||||||||
|
2005 |
He abandoned teaching to devote himself entirely to painting.. | |||||||||
|
2009 |
He exhibited at the Louvre, in Paris : Funeral Mona Lisa. |

|
Major figure of Contemporary Art, recognized internationally, his works are in |

the public collections of the Shanghai Art Museum China, the National Museum |
||||||||||
|
of Modern Art Tokyo Japan, the Pompidou Center of Paris France. |

The Fine Arts Museum in Dijon dedicated to him, its inaugural exhibition : |

As part of the Bicentenary of the birth of Courbet, the Courbet Museum in Ornans |

presented some fifteen of his works alongside some twenty paintings by Courbet. |
